Women of Zion

Fall 2021 classes

Tuesdays  |  9am-11am  | Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021

Women of Zion is a women's discipleship group focused on encouraging women in their pursuit of spiritual growth through small-group Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with women in every stage of life. A variety of Bible studies by popular authors is offered each spring and fall.  There is a cost for each class, but no one will be left out due to financial difficulty.

Four ways to sign up:  Beginning Sunday, July 25, you may sign up at the Women of Zion kiosk in the Central Commons;  you may contact Lynell at lynell.aycock@mzbc.net; you may call the Church Office at 256-837-2665; you may clink the button below.

  • A Heart on Fire: A Study of Elijah

Author: Laura Ford.  Facilitator: Laura Ford.  Cost: $10.

A Heart on Fire is a seven-session Bible study.  As you study the prophet's example of holy passion, fervent prayer, and steadfast obedience, you too will learn how to live as a holy woman of God in a very unholy society.  And no doubt, by the Holy Spirit's leading, God will astound you with the authenticity of His Word, giving you wisdom and revelation as you seek to know Him better through the life of Elijah, a man whose heart was truly on fire for God!

  • using your spiritual gifts

Author: Eddie Rasnake.  Facilitators: Beth Smith & Kathy King.  Cost:  $10.

This 12-week study is built on the premise that all Christians are to be fruitful and productive in their walk with God.  Part of being fruitful comes by knowing how to bear fruit - the fruit of the Spirit.  As you understand what it means to be fruitful in ministry, you'll be better prepared to study what spiritual gifts are and how God wants those gifts to be used.

  • god of covenant

Author: Jen Wilkin.  Facilitators: Cindy Leaphart & Kim True.  Cost: $10.

Over 10 sessions, walk alongside the fathers of our faith - Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph - to discern Jesus in the stories of His people.  Discover how God orchestrates everything for His glory and the good of His people, and see how the God of creation and covenant is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

  • joseph: the journey to forgiveness

Author: Melissa Spoelstra.  Facilitators: Joy Smith & Kathy Blades.  Cost: $10.

Nowhere do we see forgiveness played out more fully in Scripture than in the biblical story of Joseph.  This 6-week study explores what God has to say to us about grace and forgiveness through Joseph's story of trial and triumph found in Genesis 37-50.   Whether or not you are working through a hurtful situation right now, you can learn from Joseph how to release your past and present hurts to God and allow Him to do a supernatural work of forgiveness in your life.  God wants to use the very things intended to hurt you as a source of blessing in your life and the lives of others.

  • one in a million: journey to your          promised land

Author: Priscilla Shirer.  Facilitators: Sherry Rist & Pat Dykes.  Cost: $10.

This 7-week study encourages participants to fully engage in the abundant life God has waiting for those who will allow Him to take the lead in daily living.  This is an opportunity for you to experience your deliverance from strongholds, to conquer your wilderness living, and to claim your God-given inheritance.

Women's missionary union (WMU)

In 1888, a handful of Baptist Women dedicated to the cause of missions founded WMU. Since that time, WMU has become the largest Protestant organization for women in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million.

Mount Zion has deep roots in WMU as well, forming their own WMU in 1914. We continue that tradition today with many age-level mission organizations. These organizations include Women on Mission, Girls of Grace Acteens, Girls in Action and Mission Friends.

For detailed information about WMU, contact Kenya Jernigan, MZBC WMU Director at kenya@posum.com

Women on Mission

Women on Mission for women ages 18 and up will equip Christian women to follow God’s call into missions awareness, action and advocacy. We pray together, fellowship, and serve in missions. We invite you to join us as we meet together to become more aware of how we can serve our Lord and how we can share His hope with a lost world.
