Women of Zion is a women's discipleship group focused on encouraging women in their pursuit of spiritual growth through small-group Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with women in every stage of life. A variety of Bible studies by popular authors is offered each spring and fall.  There is a cost for each class, but no one will be left out due to financial difficulty.  Childcare will not be available during the winter/spring session.

To register, contact Lynell at Lynell.Aycock@mzbc.net or call the office at 256-837-2665.

On Campus Studies | Limit of 15 Participants Per Class

  • God of Creation: A Study of Genesis 1-11  by Jen Wilkin | Leader: Cindy Leaphart |   God of Creation is a 10-session Bible study on Genesis 1-11. The study walks you through verse by verse, tracing the themes of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration. There are 5 days of study each week, with small-group discussion questions at the end of each week and a weekly viewer guide.
  • Following God Series: Book of Ephesians by Eddie Rasnake | Leaders: Beth Smith & Kathy King | This is a 12-week interactive Bible study designed to inspire readers to make Christ the Head of their lives, their homes, their workplaces, and their churches.  As you walk verse by verse through its chapters, you will learn how a mystery that had been hidden for ages (the plan and purpose for God's universal church) was at long last revealed to the Apostle Paul, and you will see how the ageless message of Ephesians should be lived out today.
  • Elijah by Priscilla Shirer | Leaders: Sherry Rist & Pat Dykes | THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL .

Zoom Classes | No Participant Limit

  • Joseph: The Journey to Forgiveness by Melissa Spoelstra | Leader: Joy Smith | This 6-week study explores what God has to say about grace and forgiveness through Joseph's story of trial and triumph found in Genesis 37-50.  As we study his dreams, his betrayers, his dysfunctional family, his struggle to forgive, and his journey toward reconciliation, we'll find truths that echo into our own personal situations.  You can learn from Joseph's story how to release your past and present hurts to God and allow Him to do a supernatural work of forgiveness in your life.  God wants to use the very things intended to hurt you as a source of blessing in your live and the lives of others. For more information, contact Joy Smith at pathlightway@gmail.com.
  • Matchless by Angie Smith | Leaders: Kim True and Ruth Kirkland | Join Seamless author Angie Smith in this 8-session search for truth as she unfolds the story of our matchless Savior - His mission, miracles, and message.  Through her signature wit and accessible style, Angie unpacks Scripture in a way that's easy to understand, regardless of how long you've been studying the Bible (a great option for new believers!).  This study will deepen your understanding of Jesus through biblical, historical, and cultural insight and help you to see Him less as an iconic figure and more as an intimate Friend.

    Women's missionary union (WMU)

In 1888, a handful of Baptist Women dedicated to the cause of missions founded WMU. Since that time, WMU has become the largest Protestant organization for women in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million.

Mount Zion has deep roots in WMU as well, forming their own WMU in 1914. We continue that tradition today with many age-level mission organizations. These organizations include Women on Mission, Girls of Grace Acteens, Girls in Action and Mission Friends.

For detailed information about WMU, contact Kenya Jernigan, MZBC WMU Director at kenya@posum.com

    Women on Mission

Women on Mission for women ages 18 and up will equip Christian women to follow God’s call into missions awareness, action and advocacy. We pray together, fellowship, and serve in missions. We invite you to join us as we meet together to become more aware of how we can serve our Lord and how we can share His hope with a lost world.
