The Book of Romans - George Foust - Room S201 - No Charge

Join Dr. George Foust as he delves into the book of Romans.  This is an ongoing Bible study.

The Reason We Sing - Mitch McDonald - Room E119 - No Charge

Good hymns are sweet to the ear, but great hymns are sweet to the soul. In this class we will seek to better understand the history and theology behind some of our sacred hymns of the Christian faith. In doing so, we will come to realize that hymns do not only encourage us to worship but also teach us about the Object of our worship, namely the Triune God.

Consider this class to be a book club for a hymnal, where we all bring our thoughtful and joyful commentary on one of the great hymns of the faith. We all have knowledge, stories, and wisdom that are uniquely ours to share, so let’s do that with one another!

During each class we will sing and/or listen to a snippet of a hymn. Each week will be a different hymn, so please feel free to invite new folks at any time.

Gospel Conversations - Jonathan Moore, our Minister of Missions and Outreach. Cost: No Charge. Room S104. This class begins on January 31.  Gospel Conversations is an opportunity to learn about the hows and the whys of intentionally sharing our faith with others.  Each week you can look forward to a fun one-hour session where you will be inspired to share your faith with others and learn to use an interactive tool to share the gospel with a friend, relative, or coworker. Gospel Conversations is more like a lab than a lecture, so you won’t just hear about how to use the tool -- you’ll also get to practice using it with other course participants.  You’ll learn about four different tools, one for each week:

  • You'll learn what the Gospel is, why we share it, and the Knowing God Personally booklet. This booklet is a fantastic guide to what the Gospel is, and what it means for our life.
  • You’ll learn about 3-sentence testimonies, a way of sharing a story about God’s work in your life that can lead to deeper conversations.
  • You’ll learn about Perspective cards. This tool is a great conversation starter that lets you have a comfortable conversation about what someone believes and why they believe it.
  • You’ll learn about Snapshot or “Soularium”, a fantastic tool to dive into deep personal conversations about who someone is, and what they believe.
