The Christian Ministries
Center (CMC) is a 33,000 square foot multiuse facility. On the
ground level are two basketball courts, an aerobics room, a weight
area, a game room, and an expanded kitchen. The upper level includes
a walking track and classrooms for education. In building the CMC,
church member, Billy Campbell, acted as superintendent and directed
the volunteer labor. Some work was contracted. The dedication
service was held on April 25, 1999.
As the CMC was being built, the decision was made to add a staff
member to help plan and supervise the CMC. Todd Meredith was called
to fill the position of Minister of Activities Outreach and began
his ministry at Mount Zion on June 1, 1999. Church volunteers help
staff the building for continued use.
Since its beginning, the CMC has played an important part in Mount
Zion's ministry. Many established ministries have continued and have
been enhanced with the additional space, such as the Fall Festival,
Children's Camp, Youth Dinner Theater, and after-church fellowships.
Worship services are now being held in the CMC with a 900 seat
capacity. Community awareness for the church has increased because
of new ministries. Some programs started at Mount Zion are Upward
Basketball, children's gymnastics, Track Club, aerobics, blood
drive, Health Fair, summer basketball camps, and women's and men's
conferences. Brother Todd states that "the surface has just been
scratched" concerning the many opportunities for which the CMC can
be utilized to reach people in the community for Christ.
